Kigure was born in 1954. In 1970, as the age of 16, he entered Hakubido as an apprentice scroll mounter.
In the strict world of traditional craftsmanship, apprentices have a hard life devoted to cleaning the workshop and sharpening the tools of the trade. Today,
as a master craftsman, Kigure finds deep meaning in his work.
The moment a customer’s face lights up in delight upon seeing a completed commission makes all of Kigure’s long hours worthwhile.
Kigure strives to continually improve his craftsmanship, always aiming to find the optimum balance and colour coordination which lets each artistic work
